Somalisa Camp has had a total rebuild and refurb (2015) and is a stunning luxury contemporary African lodge now with a mixture of contemporary décor with touches from a bygone era – giving an ‘Out of Africa’ feel. The wooden deck of the main lodge has a built-in camp fire pit next to the infinity pool which looks out towards a waterhole that has an abundance of wildlife activity. In the dry season herds of elephant come to enjoy the waterhole, as well as the lodge’s swimming pool(!) making for some wonderful photographic opportunities. In the dry season it is one of the best lodges in Hwange to be able to observe these amazing animals at such close quarters.
There are seven wood and canvas tented suites, each with their own private deck. The rooms are spacious with an indoor and outdoor seating area, king or twin beds, wardrobe area, safe, electric sockets and spacious bathroom with running shower, flush loo and beautiful copper double sinks with copper taps.
As well as watching the wildlife in the relaxing lounge areas from the camp, you can also enjoy game drives, walking safaris and night drives from the lodge.
