Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge is a unique lodge with its central focus on conservation and sustainability. Founded by Clive Stockil, Chilo offers a pristine wilderness experience overlooking Gonarezhou National Park, Zimbabwe’s second largest park in the remote south east of the country. Clive has been crucial to the future of the land, wildlife and people of this area and was awarded the Prince William Award for Conservation in 2013 for his efforts.
The lodge has vast and spectacular views over the Save River (the parks northern boundary), and the national park beyond. Accommodation consists of ten luxury king or twin rooms with a private balcony and seating area, stunning views, tea and coffee making facilities, minibar, and en-suite facilities including a flush loo and shower. Two of the rooms have aconnecting balcony which can be great for families. The lodge’s main area has two levels and has an informal bar, library, various lounges, a large infinity pool and a restaurant with several dining areas.
Activities include game drives, game walks, boat cruises (dependant on water levels), a visit to the Tambahata Pan (great for birding), Mahenye Village visit, a walk to Chivilila Falls, fishing (water level dependent) and a full day excursion to the iconic and beautiful Chilojo Cliffs.
