Camp Hwange is located on a large open plain in the northern section of Hwange National Park, on its own private concession. The camp was built in an eco-friendly way, with solar power; blending into the natural environment as much as possible with wood and thatch materials for the main lodge building which is an open lounge and dining area overlooking a waterhole. There are eight chalets that fan in a semi-circle either side of the main lodge that all have a view of the waterhole. Each room is canvas and thatch and has a shower, double sink and loo, as well as a fan over the bed for the hotter months. All guests eat together at meal times, along with the guides and camp managers or host, giving a wonderfully friendly and homely feel to the lodge. There is also a camp fire where guests can gather before and after dinner for stories of today’s sightings whilst enjoying a gin and tonic! Safari activities include game drives, night drives and Camp Hwange is a sought after walking destination; also popular for photographers.
